The first Buca di Beppo restaurant opened in the basement of an apartment building in downtown Minneapolis in the summer of 1993. By 1996 there were three Buca di Beppo restaurants in the Twin Cities, one in Milwaukee, WI, and one in Palo Alto, CA. Also at that time, BUCA, Inc. was formed as a private corporate entity to support the growth and development of Buca di Beppo restaurants. In the spring of 1999, with 20 Buca di Beppo restaurants in neighborhoods across the United States, BUCA, Inc. went public and began trading its stock on the NASDAQ exchange under the symbol BUCA. By the end of 2001 the company had grown to 68 restaurants. Today there are 93 Buca di Beppo restaurants in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
